24 Weeks

  • How Far Along:  24 weeks

  • Baby Size: About the size of a cantaloupe.

  • Total Weight Gain: 12lbs.

  • Maternity Clothes: Still wearing both maternity and non maternity.

  • Stretch Marks: No not yet.

  • Sleep:  Sleeping like a baby. Well not a newborn, I’ve heard they don’t sleep very well at all J I got a Snoogle body pillow for Mother’s Day and it’s amazing!

  • Best Moment of the week: Walking out of my last final exam.

  • Miss Anything?: Not really.

  • Movement:  Lots of movement now.

  • Food Cravings: Nothing specific.

  • Anything Making you queasy or sick: No.

  • Gender: Girl.

  • Labor Signs:  No.

  • Symptoms: Heartburn L

  • Belly Button in or out: In but getting flatter.

  • Wedding Rings on or off: On.

  • Mood: Good.  I’m still feeling great.

  • Looking forward to:  Relaxing and working on getting the nursery done now that finals are over.

  • Exercise:  The last couple weeks have been hard because we have been so busy. Moving, Finals, Mother’s Day, Birthdays, etc etc etc.  I miss my workouts.  Getting back on track now.
  • Worries: I still have a high level of amniotic fluid.  The baby was cleared of any swallowing issues, which is a relief, but I have not had my glucose test yet.

22 Weeks

  • How Far Along:  22 weeks

  • Baby Size: About the size of a papaya.

  • Total Weight Gain: Still don’t have a scale so I will know at my 24 week appointment.

  • Maternity Clothes: Still wearing both maternity and non maternity.

  • Stretch Marks: No not yet.

  • Sleep: I am still sleeping well.  I feel like I got lucky because people keep asking me about it like I should be sleeping terribly.

  • Best Moment of the week: Getting into our new apartment.  I love a fresh start.

  • Miss Anything?: Not really this week.

  • Movement:  She’s moving all the time now.

  • Food Cravings: I have had a couple of weird cravings but as soon as I eat what I was craving it satisfies it and they don’t come back.  But isn’t that just normal?

  • Anything Making you queasy or sick: Nope.

  • Gender: Girl.

  • Labor Signs:  No.

  • Symptoms: Sciatica might be coming back.  I had it at weeks 7 and 8 and it was really bad but now it’s on the other side and really faint.  I hope it stays that way J

  • Belly Button in or out: In but getting flatter.

  • Wedding Rings on or off: On.

  • Mood: Great.  I obviously consider myself lucky (I named my blog after it) but really I almost feel bad when I’m talking to other pregnant friends.  I sleep great, my skin and hair have never looked better, I feel healthy and strong, I haven’t had one second of morning sickness, and I haven’t had to really limit myself in any way.  I don’t drink or eat foods I’m not supposed to but I don’t miss all of that very much.  Maybe I’m just one of those people who was made for this?  Maybe I just got lucky so far and with this pregnancy?  I don’t know but I’m very grateful for it J (I really hope I haven’t just jinxed myself for the next pregnancy)

  • Looking forward to: The new nursery.  We have officially moved but the new house is still a huge mess.  After I get organized it’s on to the nursery.  We are so fortunate to have friends with great taste that keep gifting us their old furniture so we have a crib and changing table already.

  • Exercise:  Moving means I leave behind our private gym in the complex we lived in.  I will have to be more disciplined and get in my car and drive to the gym but I have been enjoying my workouts so much that hopefully this won’t be a problem.  Also it was nice to not have to worry about unsolicited advice while I worked out and now that might be a new pet peeve.

20 Weeks

  • How Far Along:  20 weeks

  • Baby Size: About the size of a banana.

  • Total Weight Gain: 8lbs  Right on track :)

  • Maternity Clothes: I’m wearing both maternity and non maternity.

  • Stretch Marks: Nope.

  • Sleep: I am still sleeping well.  Really trying to stay off my back now that I’m getting bigger.

  • Best Moment of the week: Kyle got to feel her kicking.  It happened in Hawaii out of nowhere.  Just one day you couldn’t feel it and the next you could.  Amazing.

  • Miss Anything?: Not really missing anything right now.  Maybe just the ability to quickly and fully bend forward.  Picking things up off the floor at work is getting more uncomfortable.  Not painful, just feels weird.

  • Movement:  I feel movement all the time now.  Still not very strong though.

  • Food Cravings: Not really.

  • Anything Making you queasy or sick: Nope.

  • Gender: Girl.

  • Labor Signs:  No.

  • Symptoms: I don’t know if this is a symptom or not but the weather has been really nice and I seem to get tan like nothing.  Maybe hormonal?

  • Belly Button in or out: In.

  • Wedding Rings on or off: On.

  • Mood: Good.  Hawaii really relaxed some of my anxieties.

  • Looking forward to: Planning the nursery in our new apartment.

  • Exercise:  Working out regularly now and loving it. It’s been easier to eat healthier now also.
  • Babymoon: Hawaii was exactly what we needed and I survived the flight.  It actually wasn’t that bad at all.
  • Pet Peeve: Strangers, particularly customers, touching me.  Really people. STOP awkwardly rubbing my belly. For random strangers or acquaintances I just pull away from them or grab/rub their bellies, this really gets their attention so I think it’s funny, but with customers I’m stuck because I need their tip to pay my rent.  So annoying.
  • Scary: I had a higher level of amniotic fluid and my baby was also on the higher side in her weight. The doctor said this is normal and we will check it in another ultrasound at my next appointment but I couldn't help but Google both of these things and the common factor is Diabetes!!! I was already a little afraid of this since I have a serious sweet tooth and a little bit of a family history.  I'm trying not to overreact and have decided to change up my diet just in case.  It can't hurt to limit the sweets anyway right?

18 Weeks

  • How Far Along:  18 weeks

  • Baby Size: About the size of a sweet potato.  I've really popped out, haven't I?  This picture might have just been after a big meal ;)

  • Total Weight Gain: I guess I won’t know until my next doctor appointment at 20 weeks.

  • Maternity Clothes: I finally have some maternity clothes and they are so much more comfortable.  They also totally embrace the bump so I look more pregnant than fat.

  • Stretch Marks: Not yet. Still using the Palmers.

  • Sleep: I am still sleeping fine. Trying to stay on my side but it’s hard. I might look into a body pillow soon.

  • Best Moment of the week: I can feel her move!!!

  • Miss Anything?: I’m not really missing anything in particular right now.

  • Movement: Yes, but it’s minimal and only when I’m really still.

  • Food Cravings: Not really.

  • Anything Making you queasy or sick: Nope.

  • Gender: Girl.

  • Labor Signs:  No

  • Symptoms: Still kind of into nesting.

  • Belly Button in or out: In

  • Wedding Rings on or off: On

  • Mood: Good but a little stressed. Juggling life has been hard lately and now we are moving so that’s one more thing.

  • Looking forward to: Planning the nursery in our new apartment.

  • Exercise:  Working out is getting easier and I’m feeling more like myself.
  • Babymoon: We are heading to Maui this week for my bestie’s wedding. I can’t wait to get some down time sunbathing and to see my girl marry her dream man.**this will be the 1st time in 10 years that I will be flying without a Xanax and a beer so more to come on that later.  I’m am ridiculously afraid of heights and flying.

Gender Reveal

Well...

It’s a Girl!!
We took the grandmas-to-be out to dinner and surprised them by having the bar send over some pink martinis with "It's a girl" charms I made for the stems.  It helps that I work at the restaurant so I could have this all planned ahead.

They were really surprised and we still got to have a surprise gender reveal, just on a smaller scale. (I don't think I could have handled a party for this occasion)

16 Weeks

***I know this is late but my computer has been broken for the past few weeks.  Week 18 is coming soon also.

  • How Far Along:  16 weeks

  • Baby Size: About the size of an avocado

  • Total Weight Gain: 5lbs. My doctor said that I had only gained 1.5lbs since my last appointment but that it is ok and should average out eventually.

  • Maternity Clothes: I give up on the bella band.  It just rides up or down or wherever I don’t want it.

  • Stretch Marks: Not yet. I’m being good about using my Palmer’s Cocoa Butter lotion though, just in case. *Stretch marks may be inevitable for me anyway so I’m ok with it.

  • Sleep: I’m sleeping well and still on my stomach part of the time. I am trying to train myself to sleep on my left side, since they say that is the best for me and the baby.  I think I move around a lot though.

  • Best Moment of the week: Finding out the gender!!

  • Miss Anything?: Beer. I smelled one at work the other night and really wanted a sip.

  • Movement: No.  I’m dying to feel the baby move and I guess it will happen any time now.

  • Food Cravings: Spicy again

  • Anything Making you queasy or sick: No. Actually I feel great.

  • Gender: Girl.

  • Labor Signs:  No

  • Symptoms: Nesting. I am feeling so productive and cleaning/organizing/planning like a crazy person. Also, some heartburn but not too bad.

  • Belly Button in or out: In

  • Wedding Rings on or off: On

  • Mood: Great. I didn't realize it but I think I was a little down in the first trimester, due to being so tired and unproductive (and possibly hormones).

  • Looking forward to: Feeling some movement. The gender reveal ultrasound confirmed for me that I really could not feel the baby moving L

  • Exercise:  I have been working out regularly and it has increased my energy.  I feel so much better J
  • The Bump: Getting bigger and I can already see the linea nigra. Actually, I knew it was coming because it was always faintly there. Also, I can really feel the ligaments stretching now. I was wondering how I would know the difference between that and other cramping or aches but it’s totally obvious.

14 Weeks

  • How Far Along:  14 weeks

  • Baby Size: About the size of a lemon

  • Total Weight Gain: About 3-5 still, I think. I need a scale at home.

  • Maternity Clothes: Not yet.  I keep hearing that maternity pants will change my life so I might be getting some soon.  For now I have a bella band that is still unopened and the waist of my jeans is always digging into my belly.

  • Stretch Marks: Not yet.

  • Sleep: I’m still so tired during the day.  I have very good intentions of working out but napping seems to always take priority.

  • Best Moment of the week: Prenatal Yoga!! So relaxing.

  • Miss Anything?: The sugar that I am trying to cut back on.

  • Movement: No.

  • Food Cravings: Not really.

  • Anything Making you queasy or sick: I still have not been sick once. (knock on wood)

  • Gender: Don’t know yet

  • Labor Signs:  No

  • Symptoms: Crazy dreams.

  • Belly Button in or out: In

  • Wedding Rings on or off: On

  • Mood: Good but stressed.

  • Looking forward to: Finding out the baby’s sex.

  • Exercise:  I have big plans for exercise this month J
  • Something Funny: Our last ultrasound had the creepiest picture. It looked like the face of a scary old man like I’m carrying Benjamin Button in my womb.  We got a good laugh, after I had the doc confirm this was not my baby’s actual face. Might go in the baby book but definitely NOT in a frame J

Baby OBZ Coming Soon 9-9-2013

Recap of the First Trimester

  • How Far Along:  12 weeks (I’m actually 13 but I wrote this at 12)
  • Baby Size: About the size of a plum

  • Total Weight Gain: About 3lbs, not counting the 15-20 I gained (pre-pregnancy L) when I went off my ADHD meds.

  • Maternity Clothes: Not yet.  I do feel like the only person who isn’t disgusted by them.  I think there’s tons of cute maternity stuff out there.  I think it’s weirder to just buy bigger sizes of regular clothes.

  • Stretch Marks: Not yet.

  • Sleep: I’m sleeping fine at night and napping almost every day.  I’m ready for that 2nd trimester energy burst.

  • Best Moment of the Trimester: Seeing my baby’s heart beat.  There’s really nothing like it.

  • Miss Anything?: Subway ( I used to live on turkey sandwiches) & sushi.

  • Movement: I saw the baby moving on an ultrasound.  I can’t feel anything yet though.

  • Food Cravings: Spicy Spicy Spicy!!  I started craving it before I even knew I was prego but that has pretty much faded away now.

  • Anything Making you queasy or sick: Just the sight of my expanding butt J

  • Gender: Don’t know yet

  • Labor Signs:  No

  • Symptoms: Sciatica.  I don’t know how or why but I had the worst Sciatica at about 8-9 weeks.  On the bright side, this was my only symptom.

  • Belly Button in or out: In

  • Wedding Rings on or off: On

  • Mood: Good.  Only a few instances of crying in my car.  Once because I saw a dog on the side of the road that was just hit (I found out later that he was ok).  Another time was on the way home from work after a particularly hard night  and the Sciatica was crippling me and I decided I would never be able to work again, we would go broke, and I would be giving birth to my baby in the street.  Totally normal right?? I tend to overreact.

  • Looking forward to: Finding out the baby’s sex. I can’t wait to start planning the nursery.

  • Exercise:  I've been pretty good about exercise although I’ve been so tired.  I’m hoping to step up my game now that I’m supposed to have more energy.

  • Interesting fact:  At my first ultrasound, my doctor said that I had ovulated this baby out of the left ovary.  It’s amazing what they can see in that black and white mess of nothing in an ultrasound.
