Bridal Shower

This weekend was my Bridal Shower.  It was such a great day and I was completely showered with love and well wishes! (And tons and tons of Crate and Barrel, yay!)

This cutting board is in honor of Kyle and his greatest passion (besides me) in life.  I used to always joke that I was just his girlfriend but surfing was his wife.  I guess that is all going to have to change now.  Sorry surfing but you are moving to 2nd place now.  Actually, sorry I'm not sorry :)

Family- Including my new family :)

Thank you so much to my aunt Evelyn and my mom's bestie Denise for hosting this gorgeous day!!
And thanks to everyone else who helped out and who came to help me celebrate my upcoming nuptials :)

Goodbye to Our First Home

We are moving, yay!! We found a bigger place that will be much more comfortable for us but it is so bittersweet to leave our first place.  This is the little house that started it all.  It's where we adopted our baby Cody and where we got engaged.  I will miss our annual 4th of July party and Cody will miss his best bud Tucker, the chocolate lab next door.  We have shared so many memories here and will always look back fondly at our tiny one bedroom house on 11th Street.

But, it's time to move on, time to spread our wings.  Hopefully soon we will be expanding our family and we need the extra space.  People have been sending wedding gifts and I'm starting to feel like a hoarder in this tiny house :)  I'm also looking forward to having an actual table to eat at, furniture for people to sit on and the possibility of actually entertaining guests.  It's exciting to start fresh on a blank canvas too and hopefully I can put some of my Pinterest ideas to good use.

One thing I really love about this house are the Cherry Blossom trees in the front yard.  One day, when we finally own our own home, I would love to plant some in our garden to pay homage to the house where it all began.

Stress Case

I'm a worrier and I always have been.  I come from a long line of worriers.  No matter how I try to shake it, I'm just like my mom, who is just like my grandma.

Every semester, despite my almost flawless GPA, I worry I'm not going to make it through grad school.  Every time I walk the dog, I worry he is going to wiggle out of his collar or pull the leash too hard and run in the street (which he actually does BTW).  I worry about our jobs, our financial future, our health, our families.  I worry about getting pregnant and we haven't even started to try.

But at this particular point in time, my biggest worry is this fast approaching wedding.  I have no reason to be this way.  We have an amazing planner who handles all of the coordination and appointment making.  I have an amazing mom who is helping me with all of the planning and DIY projects.  I have yet to be told "no" for anything, although I am trying to keep everything within reason :)

Even with all of this help, I am constantly worried about how it is going to turn out.  I have been bombarded with so many ideas that I can't commit to anything and when I do commit, I second guess it every time.  I'm so worried that nothing will go together or I won't be able to pull it all together to be the beautiful amazing day that it is in my head.  I'm worried that I will feel hideous in a dress that I loved when I bought but now have convinced myself that it just isn't right at all.

The only thing I know for sure is right is who I am marrying.  That's all that should matter anyway right?  But again, I am a worrier.  I'm even worried that stressing about all this makes me so superficial and it really shouldn't matter.

I'm hoping this post sends some of this stress into the universe and away from me :)

We are 31!

Our favorite App

This is the quickest, easiest appetizer (and it will disappear in seconds). The recipe comes from my future mother-in-law and Kyle always called it his mom's "bean-dip."  Once I got the recipe from her, I realized it's more like chili-dip but either way the boys love it.  It is becoming my go-to for any Laker game night or casual event.  It's not gourmet (or healthy), but it's de-licious :)

1 can of Dennison's Chili with Beans
1 block of Philadelphia Cream Cheese
Heat and mix together and Voila! :)

I serve it with Fritos.
You could use any brand of any of the ingredients, these are just the ones that we like.

The Countdown Begins

We have 3 months to go and it's time to get down to business.

My wedding to do's:

  • Quit drinking alcohol and start drinking more water
  • No more junk food!
  • Actually start that workout plan I have been talking about for the last 8 months
  • Have a hair and make up trial so I can decide once and for all, up or down?
  • Start making my DIY items and order the things I have no hope of making myself
  • Start getting together some special things for the Bachelorette weekend
  • Get our rings
  • Meet with florist to finalize our vision for the decor, unfortunately I have changed my mind 20 times :)
