Angry Birds

I made the first batch of these Angry Birds a while back to play with the kids at work and they were a HUGE hit.  So much so that the cans have been bent and the paint is coming off and there were numerous arguments over who was allowed to build the contraption with the pigs in it and where they put the pigs.  The kids were so creative and set up the most amazing displays using the outdoor blocks (plastic) and the indoor blocks (wooden) together.  They can recall basically every level of the game and recreate it.  The only problem they had with my game was that the bird wasn't angry enough (I should have done his eyebrows at a sharper angle) and that I didn't have the exploding black angry bird :)

Anyway, since it is in such high demand, I made some more pigs today to add to the collection.  They aren't perfect but I think they are pretty darn cute.

Bridal Beauty

Now that I am in the final countdown I am getting serious about looking my best on the big day.

  • Biotin-people swear by this supplement so I have been taking it for the last few weeks.  Stay tuned to see if my hair, skin and nails improve :)

  • Hope in a Jar- I needed a new moisturizer and I bought this based on a recommendation.  I have used it once and it smells like a spa day!

  • I wanted a Clarisonic but didn't want to shell out $150-200.  I found the Olay Pro X that was $29.99.  I can't compare the two because I only have the Olay version but so far I like it and my skin is super soft.

  • Water! Water! Water! - I have been trying to drink as much as possible.  I have been carrying around a huge bottle with me all day.  One of my kids at school said "Oh my gosh Miss. Mara, where did you find a water bottle that big.  I have never seen one!"  Hahaha 2nd graders crack me up.

  • Tanning- I know it's bad but you only get married once, right?  I haven't been going but I plan on getting a month unlimited membership on the 15th so I will use half before the bachelorette in Vegas and half before the wedding.
Also I want to try out tanning wipes.  People say that they are wayyyyyy better than any other self tanner.  No streaking.

  • Diet and Exercise - My biggest challenge by far!  I have a hard time with discipline in this area.  I always feel better when I work out but for some reason that is just not enough motivation.  Also I have a serious sugar addiction, and so does Kyle.  Luckily we just moved a little bit farther away from Dairy Queen so hopefully there won't be any more after-dinner Blizzard runs :)

March 26, 2011

Even though this party took place months before I even started this blog, I had to share it because it's just too cute not to.  We had it at The Shorebreak hotel downtown.  We decided that our 30th was going to be our last big one for a while so we wanted to start out the new decade with a BANG. Looking back, I'm so glad we did it because when our 31st rolled around this year we were both so exhausted from our crazy busy lives that a Sunday brunch was all we had the energy for.  One of the most amazing surprises from the night was two of our girlfriends, Katie and Shannon Y., hired a photographer to take the pictures for the night.  What an amazing gift!  I would never have thought of that and it meant we had beautiful professional pictures and didn't have to think once about getting the camera out and taking them :)

Bridal Shower

This weekend was my Bridal Shower.  It was such a great day and I was completely showered with love and well wishes! (And tons and tons of Crate and Barrel, yay!)

This cutting board is in honor of Kyle and his greatest passion (besides me) in life.  I used to always joke that I was just his girlfriend but surfing was his wife.  I guess that is all going to have to change now.  Sorry surfing but you are moving to 2nd place now.  Actually, sorry I'm not sorry :)

Some of my beautiful bridesmaids

Family- Including my new family :)

Thank you so much to my aunt Evelyn and my mom's bestie Denise for hosting this gorgeous day!!
And thanks to everyone else who helped out and who came to help me celebrate my upcoming nuptials :)

Goodbye to Our First Home

We are moving, yay!! We found a bigger place that will be much more comfortable for us but it is so bittersweet to leave our first place.  This is the little house that started it all.  It's where we adopted our baby Cody and where we got engaged.  I will miss our annual 4th of July party and Cody will miss his best bud Tucker, the chocolate lab next door.  We have shared so many memories here and will always look back fondly at our tiny one bedroom house on 11th Street.

But, it's time to move on, time to spread our wings.  Hopefully soon we will be expanding our family and we need the extra space.  People have been sending wedding gifts and I'm starting to feel like a hoarder in this tiny house :)  I'm also looking forward to having an actual table to eat at, furniture for people to sit on and the possibility of actually entertaining guests.  It's exciting to start fresh on a blank canvas too and hopefully I can put some of my Pinterest ideas to good use.

One thing I really love about this house are the Cherry Blossom trees in the front yard.  One day, when we finally own our own home, I would love to plant some in our garden to pay homage to the house where it all began.
